About Us

 Let me tell you a little more about myself and my family. I’m married to the love of my life, Greg—we’ve been together for 20 years and celebrating 15 years of marriage in 2025. I have three amazing children: Shelby, Kendra, and Kory, and six wonderful grandchildren—Jadelyn, Zoe, Peyton, Parker, Kennedy, and Rylo—with grandbaby number seven arriving soon!

Family means everything to me. I’m lucky to live near my children, grandchildren, and my incredible parents, Lynn and Janice. They even help out in the shop every Thursday—stop by and say hello! Their love and support, along with the rest of my family, fuel everything I do.

I became a registered nurse in 1994 and spent nearly 30 years working in Emergency Departments across our area. Though I loved my time in healthcare, I’ve since retired and now run Uncommon Necessities full-time, and I truly love it! You’ll find me in the shop six days a week.

Greg, a Navy veteran, retired after 30+ years at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He now works behind the scenes—cutting wood for our Take & Make projects, 3D-printing creative display pieces, and lending his artistic eye to the business. I couldn’t ask for a more supportive partner.

When we get a rare break (which isn’t often, lol!), we love visiting Disneyland or cruising to new destinations. But our favorite moments are spent making memories with family close to home.

Crafting has always been part of my life. I used to create with my kids after work, and now I’m lucky enough to make new memories crafting with my grandkids. (Fun fact: my dad still has a popsicle stick pencil holder I made as a child!)
